Baden-Württemberg, a phased approach is used to investigate contaminated sites and potential contaminated sites. In the final investigation stage after reaching evidence level 3, the so-called "In-depth investigation for remediation measures / preliminary remediation planning (E3-4)", a remediation concept including definition of the remediation objectives is drawn up, on the basis of which the remediation decision is made in the assessment at evidence level 4. This document provides guidelines for the procedure, which are supplemented by a range of examples.
